Recognising our great industry
I had the absolute pleasure of attending last night's Seek SARA Awards night, at the beautiful Ivy in Sydney, with some 300 industry peers. The atmosphere was full of excitement, and as Colin from Chandler Macleod commented, "it was quite refreshing to see many new faces in the crowd. It shows how the industry is growing."
The awards recognised the best in the recruitment industry as judged by a panel of notable industry professionals, including RCSA President Robert van Stokrom, who earlier this week announced the end of his term as President after serving 10 years on the board.
Robert was given a heartfelt recognition on the night for his contributions to the industry.
The venue was adorned in seek's brand of pink, including the VIP red carpet which was turned to pink, and all guests were spoilt rotten, as we were treated to a premium night of funky vibes and french champagne. I especially enjoyed the MC of the night, comedian Tommy Little. He began with a opening comedy skit, and was engaging and funny throughout the night. At one point he joked about RCSA members, The Recruitment Company's award win for the most innovative agency of the year, asking "for being so innovative, why did you call yourselves, the recruitment company - not the most innovative name!"
Overall, on a personal level, i enjoyed every minute of the night. As a representative of the industry's peak body, RCSA, i have to say i felt extremely proud of all the recruiters, all the finalists and winners, and proud of our strong partnership with Seek over the years. I want to thank the team at Seek for this award series, recognising our great industry and going above and beyond (it felt like no expense was spared) to give our industry professionals a truly great night.
I am also proud of our RCSA Members who took out most of the night's accolades. U&U Recruitment Partners (pictured below) won the Medium Recruitment Agency of the Year Award and Talent International won the Large Recruitment Agency of the Year. David Wilson from RCSA Members Davidson Group took out the Recruitment Consultant of the Year Award, The Recruitment Company were winners of The Most Innovative Agency Award and M&T Resources won the Excellence in Candidate Engagement Award.
It shows the calibre of RCSA Members, and commitment that as Members we uphold higher standards of ethics and best practise in the industry. As the RCSA's Partnerships Manager, I would love to see so many more in our industry become Members and take advantage of the benefits of being part of the industry association from business and professional support through to industry advocacy and action.
We are a community that is making a difference and it's nights like these, like the RCSA's Awards (Winter Ball) that gives us a chance to celebrate our achievements together, and of course, enjoy a drink or two!
