RCSA Industry Awards tickets being snapped up

As the names of the finalists of this year’s RCSA Industry Awards have just been announced, we chat with Hannah Mundell who was last year named Recruiter of the Year at the New Zealand Winter Ball. She tells us how she was nominated and why she believes the event is a must attend for industry participants.

This week RCSA named the finalists for this year’s Industry Awards to be presented to winners at our Industry Awards Nights in Melbourne and Auckland.

The Awards Night, while a valuable and important opportunity to recognise the outstanding work being done by professionals within the recruitment and staffing sector, is also a chance to network and have some fun.

Hannah Mundell, a Senior Recruitment Specialist with Assurity Consulting, was named last year’s Recruiter of the Year at the 2017 RCSA Industry Awards making her the first internal recruiter to receive the honour.

“It had never occurred to me to enter the RCSA Industry Awards as I always thought these were agency awards,” Hannah explained. “It wasn’t until I received a call from the RCSA to say I had been nominated by someone else in the industry and that they would like me to enter that I actually agreed to put in an entry.

“One of the reasons I was prepared to submit an application was because I'd been following the work Charles Cameron (RCSA CEO) had been doing for the RCSA and the industry and I was happy to be connected to a professional body with a leader that inspires change and I could connect with his values.

“I was really honoured to have just been nominated, but then to win the award was pretty special. There are so many amazing people in our industry that I think would be worthy of these awards. I'm the sort of person that prefers to put my head down and just get on with my job rather than seek recognition so this was really humbling.”

Hannah said while the clear highlight of last year’s Ball was being announced as Recruiter of the Year, it was also a wonderful opportunity to kick back and have some fun.

“It was a great night and a good opportunity to meet the nominees and winners from the other categories and get to know them,” she said. “I was sitting with some of the winners from 2016 so I also got to hear about the exciting work they had been doing.

“There was also a social media competition on the night of the awards for the best photo to win a trip to the RCSA Conference. Our table didn’t win the competition but we sure had a lot of fun getting creative and the band was great so there was lots of dancing after the awards ceremony.”

The Australian Industry Awards Night will be held in Melbourne on June 14, while the New Zealand ceremony will be held at the Hilton Auckland on Thursday July 5. Tickets are still available, but are selling quickly.
