Introducing Mark Louwen, new Membership Manager

We are pleased to welcome Mark Louwen as the new RCSA Membership Manager for Australia. To help you to get to know a little about Mark, we put a series of hard-hitting and not so hard hitting questions to him.

Why did you take on the role with RCSA?

I went into the interview with some hesitations as it is an industry I don’t know a lot about, however after meeting with Charles Cameron and speaking with Greg Savage over the phone, I couldn’t wait to get started. They spoke with so much passion and knowledge of the industry.

You have a Business Development background. What would you describe as your greatest professional success?

I’m proud of what I have achieved in all of my roles, in winning many new accounts during my time at Red Bull, Capi and Vitality Brands.

Although I do have one win that probably stands out the most; at Vitality Brands I secured the La Manna account after a whole lot of hard work, many meetings and a few times filling in for their basketball team (I must of impressed). They became one of our biggest accounts ordering large amounts regularly.

Do you have a mantra you live by?

Fail to plan, plan to fail. If you’re not first, you’re last.

Tell us about yourself.

I’m originally from Perth (I’m a West Coast fan) and have lived in Melbourne for 12 years. I love basketball, fashion, food and spending time with my family. I have been married to a very beautiful lady for seven years and have a six month old baby girl.

What is the greatest piece of professional advice you have ever been given?

Follow your passion, is a horrible advice. Work hard at whatever you are doing and you will find your passion!

You’re new to recruitment. If you had to describe the sector in three words, what would they be? We’ll check in with you in a year to see if your choice changes!

Passionate, committed and fun

What did you do before joining RCSA?

I was a Marketing Liaison Officer with Dorevitch Pathology. This was a fancy name for Account Manager.

Your first three official days of working for RCSA were at the Noosa conference. What did you discover at the conference that you didn’t know about the sector beforehand?

That Charles Cameron is a triple threat - CEO, dancer and rapper

What is the first thing you would like to do in your new position?

To get out and meet with as many members as I can and start building on our key relationships.

If you could invite three people (dead, alive or fictional) over for dinner who would that be and why?

Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant I’m a huge basketball fan and they are my two favorite players of all time. I would also have my Dad because he would be very upset if I didn’t invite him to a dinner with Jordan and Kobe.

What would you serve - your signature dish?

A Mexican feast

What is your go-to karaoke song?

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. I only sing for my baby girl.
