A joint program between RCSA and the Queensland Government is having great success linking businesses with skilled staff during the COVID-19 crisis.
The Jobs Finder Queensland program, launched almost a month ago, gives employers direct access to the skills and experience of more than 200 professional recruitment and staffing agencies across the state.
One agency which has had great success through Jobs Finder Queensland is AWX, which has placed two workers on the Sunshine Coast, one in Brisbane, another in Bundaberg and one in Mt Isa.
AWX National Development Manager, Luke McFadzean, said he was impressed by how the program had brought businesses and job seekers together.
One example was AWX’s new client Sunshine Coast Windscreen, Glass and Tinting, which had met with success almost immediately.
“We were presented a shortlist from RCSA through the Jobs Finder Queensland program and saw an applicant named Michael had previous experience in a similar role,” Luke said.
“We called and he was placed almost immediately. The whole experience has been really positive for all parties.
“We’ve found Michael really motivated to work. We are really proud to be part of this project and to help Queensland job seekers during this tough time. We’ve found the workers who register for Jobs Finder Queensland really motivated to work and come with great skill sets.
“This was our first candidate via the Jobs Finder Queensland program and we hope not the last.
“We are prioritising them for work as they are keen to work, motivated and really want to help other Queenslanders who have been placed out of work, often at no fault of theirs.”
AWX are among a number of participating agencies, based throughout Queensland, who are pairing job seekers with work to help meet demand in priority and frontline sectors.
RCSA CEO, Charles Cameron, said the program had helped keeping skilled people employed during tough times.
“Professional staffing agencies are highly skilled at quickly sourcing and mobilising people in work,” Mr Cameron said.
“The key to this program is that local professional recruitment and staffing agencies are working directly with businesses looking for staff and the job seekers, many of whom may be transitioning to new skill sets and sectors and need a little more support than normal.”
Cameron said Jobs Finder Queensland was bringing the expertise and experience of the recruitment sector to the fore during COVID-19.
“These unique circumstances require more than a matching service, it requires professionals who know the local regions, business requirements and can move quickly to ensure the program works and is successful in seeing Queensland through to other side of this pandemic,” he said.
Cameron said AWX was just one of many success stories achieved through the program and he encouraged agencies who had still not signed on, to waste no time in doing so.
Agencies wanting to participate must be either a licensed labour hire provider under the Queensland Labour Hire Licensing Act (for on-hire employment participation) or a private employment agency operating under the Private Employment Agents Act in Queensland (for recruitment placement participation).
They must also be:
RCSA Corporate Members; or
StaffSure certified; or
A Labour Hire “Approved Employer” within the Australian Government Seasonal Worker Program (permitting agriculture industry on-hire assignments under the program only); or
On the Queensland Government Standing Offer Arrangement for Office Based Staff Solutions (permitting office based on-hire assignments or placements under the program only).
Participating agencies are also expected to abide by RCSA’s ACCC authorised Code of Professional Conduct and provide a quality experience for job seekers and employers.
