Solid working relationship key to award win for Lynx and Spaceworks


The Outstanding Client Award was one of the most sought-after at the 2020 RCSA Industry Awards and today Peter Stewart, Managing Director of Lynx Recruitment, explains how the agency’s work with Spaceworks Design Group paid dividends.

Spaceworks Design Group was referred to Lynx from another client that we had a successful relationship with.

Spaceworks had previously been working with a much larger, more established recruitment firm, however the experience had been frustrating and the candidates being delivered were not of the high calibre one would expect to be associated with the Spaceworks brand.

After gaining an understanding of what types of candidates were required to fit the business and the positions available, we set out a customised candidate marketing strategy to attract the right candidates to apply for the role.

Lizzie and Bradley from Spaceworks were very clear as to what they did and did not want in the potential candidates which allowed us to position our marketing to suit.

They were fully trusting in our methods and processes while putting full faith in us via an exclusive arrangement that allowed us to take our time to do a thorough job so we could get the right candidates in front of them.

Efficient and effective communication was always present between both parties, including honesty and transparency along the journey.

Fortunately, Spaceworks has a very marketable brand and an extensive portfolio of exciting projects to show off, so the marketing looked awesome.

The combination of our award-winning marketing, communication and Spaceworks’ brand and trust in us were all contributing factors to the success in our relationship and the hires to date.

We were originally tasked with finding one Business Development Manager in Auckland, however once delivered successfully, we recruited a second person in Auckland along with a third in Wellington to focus on the growing market down there.

So far the new hires have performed well, despite a challenging environment in the face of COVID-19, and are enjoying their new home at Spaceworks Design Group.

The award win means a lot to our business as it is our second industry award in just 18 months of business, alongside our SEEK award for Most Innovative Agency.

For a business that prides itself on being client-focused and innovative, these awards certainly reflect those values.
